Swimming Pool Project Space says…
Given its title, you might expect this exhibition to reclaim video’s fundamental qualities, returning to critic Clement Greenberg’s intellectual territory or that of the structural filmmakers of the 1960s. But this international group show’s spirit (and its rewards) lie elsewhere. Videos by Julie Lequin, Rob Carter, Julie Orser, Luana Perilli, and five others are presented as a series of intimate encounters. Eschewing questions of medium specificity, these diverse works use video to explore our relationship with other media — from painting and sculpture to internet scripting languages — employing techniques such as time-lapse photography and animation.
